Videography: Keeping the
Joy Alive

celebrating family memories on video. In addition to weddings, he
produces videos that tell the life stories of family elders, and he

"Every
wedding day has its own story. For some couples, the sacredness of
the ceremony stands out. For others, the bonds with family and
friends burst into life at the reception. As I record and edit each
wedding, I try to think of it as more than a passive visual
documentary of the day. I try to think what is going to be most
important to this particular couple, a month from now, a year from
now, 10 years from
now. |
| "I also
think video is a profoundly underrated tool, and that its real value
will only be appreciated through time. I imagine couples at their
25th and even 50th anniversaries hearing their own vows again,
seeing the laughter of beloved grandparents now long gone and the
delight of young nieces twirling in their white dresses, now grown
and married themselves. |

"I truly see
this simple video as a chance to preserve the magic of our best
selves on our best day, to look at and savor whenever we choose. And
I treat that with the respect it
deserves."
